Collaborating with our expert architects and engineers, you will be an integral member of the design team and have the opportunity to perform structural analysis and design for a wide range of projects locally, nationally, and around the world. Structural design efforts will include design for manufacturing, education and healthcare facilities, data centers, planning studies, water and wastewater treatment facilities, technical writing and construction drawing and specification production. You’ll be accountable for scope, schedule, budget, and technical quality of design deliverables, whether working independently or leading a project team. With our global reach, you’ll have access to industry experts around the world and opportunities for national and international travel.With little or no supervision, competently perform conventional aspects of Structural Engineering analysis and designPlan and conduct work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteriaExercise sound engineering judgment and problem-solving skills, not hesitating to reach out to others for guidance or confirmation when questions arisePossess strong knowledge of principles and practices of lateral analysis and design (wind and seismic), including ability to apply required provisions of the building codeExhibit a high level of attention to detail and quality controlCommitted to checking your own work, reaching out to peers and seniors for guidance when questions arisePerform calculation checking of other engineers' workTake responsibility for managing workload, make and keep commitments, and take full ownership of assigned workTake complete ownership of your portion of the structural scope, reliably working to meet schedule, budget, and quality requirementsYou may be given tasks with ill-defined conditions of satisfaction, in which case you will be expected to take the initiative to determine what is needed to meet the project and client needsClearly define your own scope and start to develop your ability to forecast level of effort needed to complete that scopeBe ready to identify scope change and escalate it to your Structural Lead or Project ManagerRecognize when help is needed, reaching out to peers and senior engineers for guidanceWork in a timely, accurate, and cost-effective manner with strong attention to detailDeveloping leadership skillsProvide technical guidance, coaching, and/or mentorship to designers/drafters and less experienced engineersBe proactive in advancing workflows, systems, and tools within the structural discipline; embrace emerging technologiesProject Structural Discipline Lead: small to medium-sized projects - As a Lead Structural Engineer for an assigned projectFully understand structural scope, recognize how that scope is both generated and impacted by other disciplines, and identify scope changeDevelop and manage schedule, budget, and staffing forecasts for the structural scopeAttend project meetings and take an active role to help team resolve concerns and solve problems across disciplinesMay be asked to act as the stamping Engineer of RecordTake ultimate responsibility for aspects of the deliverables, including calculations and construction documentsParticipate in and champion internal, cross-discipline, and external project quality reviewsEligible to be QC reviewer on small to medium-sized projectsEligible to apply for the Technologist Career Framework roleWill not now or in the future require sponsorship for an employment visa (examples: H-1B, L-1B, or other temporary visa status like OPT or F-1) to work for Jacobs in the U.S.#LI-AC2 Here's what you'll need Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering, with an emphasis in Structural EngineeringProfessional Engineer License (PE)Minimum 8 years of experience in structural engineering related to building (or similar structure) designExperience with US building codes including IBC, ASCE 7, ACI and AISCExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong interpersonal skillsExperience leading small teamsIdeally, you'll also have:MS degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering or MS degree in Structural EngineeringStructural Engineer License (SE)Experience designing and analyzing steel, concrete, post-tensioned concrete, cold-formed steel framing, masonry, and wood structuresShould be well experienced in gravity and lateral analysis of structures for wind and seismic loadsExperience in buildings and general industrial facilitiesExperience with STAAD, RAM, SAP2000, ETABS, or similar general-purpose or component-based structural analysis and design softwareExperience with Revit, Navisworks, and BluebeamOur health and welfare benefits are designed to invest in you, and in the things you care about.
