Financial Aid Counselor

Compensation $21.92 - $34.39 per hour, salary range $21.92 to $24.10 per hour depending on qualifications. Position Summary Responsible for counseling students, prospective students and parents on financial aid matters, ensuring familiarity with Federal financial aid processing requirements. During the absence of the Financial Aid Manager, assist with supervising the Financial Aid office and staff. Job Duties Counsel students, prospective students, parents, and staff on all matters relating to financial aid. Assist campus Financial Aid Manager with ongoing training of Financial Aid support staff and student workers. Verify student information and evaluate student eligibility. Perform data entry of financial aid documents. Understand and implement institutional and office procedures. Read, analyze, and respond to Federal and State regulations. Refer students to appropriate college personnel and outside agencies. Conduct internal and external financial aid workshops. Perform other similar and related duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and two years of prior-related higher education financial aid work experience. If applicants do not have a bachelor’s degree, they must have at least one year of college (30 semester hours) and may substitute for up to three years of education at the rate of two years of higher education financial aid experience for each year of education.
