Job Summary and Qualifications Under the general supervision of the Director and Manager of Maternal Child Department, and the direct supervision of the Charge Nurse, the Registered Nurse in the Level II Nursery is responsible for the provision of safe, effective care of the newborn. What you will do in this role: You will assume responsibility for the efficient management of patients including but not limited to assessments and care planning. You will demonstrate and maintain competencies in all aspects of newborn care and be able to delegate appropriately. You will demonstrate knowledge and properly document in a timely manner all patient assessment, vital signs, critical results, care planning, and education. You will organize and maintain proper equipment and supplies needed for newborn care. You will maintain effective communication with leadership, physicians, co‑workers, patients and visitors to promote patient safety and satisfaction. You will ensure implementation of operational standards which promote the maintenance of patient rights for the newborn and parents. You will demonstrate knowledge of and practice the ICARE philosophy daily by interacting in a positive manner with all patients, visitors and colleagues. You will demonstrate knowledge and maintain all quality initiatives which include but are not limited to Core Measures, Risk Reduction Initiatives and Patient Satisfaction. You will demonstrate professionalism by maintaining proper dress code, telephone etiquette, and projecting a positive image and attitude. What qualifications you will need: Associate Degree in Nursing or RN Diploma required. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred. 1 year applicable experience. Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of practice and/or has an active compact license, in accordance with law and regulation. American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification. Neonatal Resuscitation Program within 60 days.
