Truck Mechanic

As a Truck Technician, you will support the preparation, assembly, and modification of commercial trucks to ensure they are road-ready and meet company standards. This role involves hands-on mechanical work, including drilling, bolt-on installations, routing wiring and lines, and light fabrication to support a variety of electronic and mechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform basic mechanical work on trucks under supervision and according to detailed instructions
• Complete drilling and bolt-on modifications to support truck customization and preparation
• Install, route, and secure wiring, hoses, and lines for electronic and mechanical systems
• Perform light fabrication of brackets and supports as needed
• Safely operate hand tools and power tools for assembly, installation, and repair tasks
• Assist with installation of equipment such as telematics, camera systems, electronic logging devices (ELDs), geo-fencing systems, and lane departure systems
• Support production activities including assembly, inspection, modification, and finishing work
• Accurately read and use a tape measure for precise installations and fabrication
• Climb in and out of truck cabs and equipment safely during installations and inspections
• Follow shop safety procedures while maintaining a clean and organized work area
• Operate basic shop machinery and equipment as required
• Collaborate with team members and follow supervisor direction to complete projects on time

Required Skills

• Strong mechanical aptitude with basic mechanical skills
• Experience using hand tools and power tools
• Ability to perform drilling and bolt-on modifications
• Experience routing and securing wiring, hoses, and lines
• Capability to complete light fabrication work (brackets, supports, etc.)
• Comfort working on and around trucks, including climbing in and out of cabs
• Ability to accurately read a tape measure
• Ability to perform general labor, assembly, repair, and inspection tasks
• Must have and maintain a basic personal tool set

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in production, mechanical, automotive, or installation environments
• Experience in fabrication, carpentry, or machine operation
• Familiarity with telematics, camera systems, ELDs, or similar technology installations
• Experience using cordless and pneumatic tools
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work
• Ability to follow instructions and grow into more independent responsibilities

Work Environment

This position is based in a shop focused on fleet preparation and truck modification. The facility is clean and organized but is not climate-controlled, and temperatures may vary with the seasons due to open bay doors. You will regularly use tools such as socket sets, wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, drills, impact tools (cordless and pneumatic), and measuring devices. Steel-toe shoes are required. The role involves physical activity, including standing, climbing, and working with tools throughout the shift in a production environment.

Job Type & Location: This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Statesville, NC.

Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $21.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
