Veterinary Extern - General Practice

Job Overview Hillsboro Beach Animal Hospital is a team of passionate, hard-working health care professionals. As an extern, you'll learn, grow, and utilize your skills in the animal health care field. The hospital is AAHA-accredited and has three dedicated veterinarians alongside skilled technicians, kennel workers, and courteous receptionists. The doctors have over 45 years of combined experience and have the utmost regard for each pet as a special individual. The team spirit and supportive environment make it an excellent learning setting. Responsibilities Students will work closely with supervising DVMs to gain experience in: Gathering patient histories Performing physical exams Creating treatment plans Diagnostics Dental services Observing, assisting, or performing surgical procedures Medical management of patients In addition, externs will have the opportunity to practice communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients. Duration Most externship experiences range from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules. All DVM students, regardless of class year, are encouraged to participate. Stipend DVM students who are in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend.
