Role Description

GunBroker.com is seeking a Software Developer (APIs, .NET & AI) to design, build, and maintain the APIs that power our marketplace, internal applications, and partner integrations. This role is centered on creating scalable, reliable API contracts that can evolve over time without disrupting the systems and customers that depend on them. You will work closely with Product, QA, and Data Engineering teams to deliver high-quality software that supports millions of marketplace users.

The ideal candidate has experience designing and developing production APIs, working with relational databases, and owning the quality of their code through automated testing and code reviews. You will participate in architecture discussions, make technical design decisions, troubleshoot production issues, and contribute to a highly collaborative engineering environment.

This is an AI-native development role where AI coding agents are part of the daily workflow. You will use AI tools to accelerate development, generate and enhance tests, and help solve engineering challenges while maintaining responsibility for validating outputs and ensuring software quality.

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience building and maintaining production web APIs using a statically typed backend language such as C#, Java, Kotlin, or Go.
• Strong REST API design experience, including versioning, backward compatibility, error handling, and designing APIs used by multiple clients or systems.
• Experience working with relational databases, SQL, and ORM frameworks in production environments.
• Proven experience writing automated tests for your own code, including unit, integration, and regression testing.
• Daily use of AI coding tools or AI agents, along with a disciplined process for validating their output.
• Experience participating in code reviews as both an author and reviewer.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with C#, ASP.NET Core, Entity Framework Core, and the .NET ecosystem.
• SQL Server and T-SQL experience, including stored procedures and performance optimization.
• Experience modernizing or replacing existing systems while maintaining API compatibility.
• Experience with Rust or other systems programming languages.
• Production support experience in high-volume environments.
• Experience developing public-facing or partner APIs, including API security, authentication, and documentation standards.
• Experience with GraphQL, OData, or gRPC services.
• Front-end development experience using Angular, React, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Cloud-native development experience, including Azure, Cosmos DB, serverless functions, containers, message queues, and microservices.
• Experience in e-commerce, marketplace, payments, auction platforms, or regulated industries.
