Certified Surgical Technologist

Our client, a leading health system in Dodge City, KS, is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist to join their Surgery department. This full-time position involves working under the supervision of the surgeon and RN to maintain an organized and sterile operating room for safe surgical procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform appropriate counts with the circulator prior to the operation, before incision closure, and as needed.
• Prepare back table and mayo stand anticipating the needs of the surgeon using the surgeon's preference card.
• Set up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedures.
• Provide on-call coverage outside of standard scheduled hours as per department and/or facility policy.
• Anticipate possible problems or complications that could arise during cases.
• Adjust quickly and prepare for emergent cases that change workflow.
• Scrub on all cases including General, Orthopedic (trauma/totals/sports medicine), and OB/GYN.
• Assist with room turnover and restocking for the next day's cases.
• Maintain sterile field during procedures and hand instruments to surgeons, anticipating their needs.
• Maintain and update preference cards.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Completion of an approved Surgical Technician program.
• Current Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association.
• Current registration with the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) as a surgical technologist for associates working in Colorado.
• Certification in Surgical Technology from the National Board Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or Certification as a Tech in Surgery from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).
• Preferred: One (1) year of experience in a surgical setting and experience in a specialty field.

Schedule

• Full-time position with a variable schedule of 40 hours per week.
• Day shift with variable start times based on surgical volume and current unit needs.
• Call required: 1-2 weekday/night call shifts and 1x48hr weekend call shift per 4-week schedule.
• 30-minute callback radius required.

Compensation

$22.08 - $33.41/hr
