AVP, Actuarial Science (Medicaid)

Job Summary The AVP, Actuarial Science, directs company strategy and manages actuarial expertise to ensure actuarial soundness and improve profitability of CareSource’s lines of business. Essential Functions Drive company strategy and manage actuarial expertise in collaboration with other leaders on all actuarial functions, including pricing, forecasting, month‑end close activities, and performance monitoring. Oversee actuarial processes and coordinate their relevance and performance to support CareSource business needs. Implement necessary improvements to models, reports, and processes to keep pace with evolving business requirements. Represent Actuarial Services in written and verbal communications, presentations, and meetings with regulators, owners, and other external parties. Align actuarial functions with Finance Department to support accurate monthly financial reporting. Maintain actuarial processes and controls consistent with best practices for accurate and timely reporting. Perform any other job duties as requested. Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, economics, or a related field (required). Minimum ten (10) years of experience in the Actuarial Industry, with at least five (5) years of management experience (preferred). Minimum five (5) years of experience in the healthcare actuarial function (Medicaid, Commercial, Medicare Advantage) including rate negotiations, model design, and state/federal reporting (preferred). Experience interacting with state or federal regulators, CMS, or other external regulatory/auditing entities (preferred). Experience presenting to internal senior leaders. Understanding of business processes, operations, and partner competencies. Licensure and Certification Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA). Associate or Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (ASA or FSA). Maintenance of memberships in both the Society of Actuaries and the American Academy of Actuaries. Working Conditions General office environment; may be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time. May require travel less than 20% of the time. Compensation Salary range: $150,000–$300,000. In addition to base compensation, eligibility for a bonus tied to company and individual performance.
