SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST

Qualifications & Requirements Master’s Degree in Speech/Language Pathology Perform skilled/professional-level tasks under limited supervision to provide children/students with deficits in articulation, language fluency, and voice. Work with teachers and the Special Education Coordinator to enhance each student’s self‑esteem and personal growth. Meet with parents and other staff to enhance learner outcomes. Utilize discretion, ingenuity, and independent judgment due to the variety of challenges in the job. Choose appropriate solutions when multiple approaches are possible. Specific Training / Skills Job skills required to perform tasks with occasional need to upgrade skills to meet changing job conditions. Physical Requirements Exposure to the following situations may range from remote to frequent based on circumstances and factors that may not be predictable. Duties / Responsibilities & Essential Functions Assist in the identification and initial referral of Speech‑Language Impaired children. Perform Speech‑Language assessments. Participate in comprehensive staffing. Coordinate the information flow from the department to other appropriate service providers. Prepare comprehensive Speech‑Language reports. Make recommendations for intervention. Attend categorical eligibility meetings which involve presentation of evaluation results. Consult and instruct school personnel and parents in the therapeutic management of students. Write and implement IEP’s. Maintain confidential records. Provide documentation of progress and prepare evaluations. Document speech delivery services and prepare Medicaid documentation forms. Provide formal/informal in‑service to administrators, parents, and teachers. Travel to the various sites to provide services. Attend necessary workshops and continuing education to maintain certification and license. Supervise and direct SLPAs per license requirements. Perform other duties as assigned.
