About the Role

The Company is seeking a Privacy Managing Counsel to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert legal advice on privacy and data protection, with a focus on the company's embedded finance business. This includes ensuring compliance with a range of privacy and data protection laws, such as the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, state privacy laws, the California Consumer Privacy Act, the General Data Protection Regulation, and others. The role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to implement privacy-by-design controls, conducting risk assessments, and advising on privacy-related compliance considerations in commercial and technology agreements. The Privacy Managing Counsel will also be instrumental in developing and enhancing privacy policies, procedures, and training materials, as well as monitoring and translating evolving privacy laws into practical guidance for internal stakeholders. Applicants for the Privacy Managing Counsel position should have a minimum of 8 years' of legal experience, with a focus on privacy, data protection, financial services regulation, or related legal counseling. A strong background in U.S. financial privacy laws, including the GLBA and state privacy requirements, is essential. The ideal candidate will have experience in drafting and negotiating a variety of legal agreements within the financial services, banking, payments, fintech, or similarly regulated industries. A Juris Doctor (JD), Master of Laws (LL.M.), or equivalent legal qualification is required, and an active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction. Preferred qualifications include a recognized privacy certification and experience in embedded finance or partner-driven financial products. The role demands a professional who can work in a complex, multi-party ecosystem and is familiar with implementing privacy-by-design practices in product development and engineering environments.
