If these values resonate with you, we'd love to have you join our team and help us make a lasting impact on the lives of children across Colorado!The Part-Time Occupational Therapist delivers occupational therapy services to an assigned student caseload, including compensation, remediation and prevention strategies and adaptations, with a focus on functional mobility and safe, efficient access to and participation in activities and routines in natural learning environments. The part-time OT independently evaluates student needs within their assigned caseload, plans and provides interventions, and supports motor development and participation in everyday routines and activities that are part of the educational program. Occupational therapy interventions promote skill acquisition and environmental adaptation and are commonly embedded within the context of student activities and routines.Essential Job FunctionsGather appropriate information from students, parents, and team members regarding functional motor performance in school settings for students on the assigned caseloadAdminister and interpret screening instruments and standardized measurement tools for assigned students within the scope of occupational therapy services, with supervisory oversight from the full-time OTReview student data, history, and assessment information to plan services aligned with student goals for the assigned caseloadImplement occupational therapy interventions and activities for assigned students, exercising clinical judgment within the scope of the role and under supervision of the full-time OTAdapt environments to facilitate student access and participation in the educational program for assigned students, in coordination with the supervising OTCollect data and monitor progress for students on the assigned occupational therapy caseloadAttend IEP and reevaluation meetings for students on the assigned caseload, communicating occupational therapy findings and recommendations in clear, accessible language for parents and other team membersProvide direct support and instruction to parents, support staff, teachers, and other school personnel regarding:Physical strengths and needs of students, such as safe lifting, positioning, and assisted ambulationGross motor programs and equipment useStrategies to promote student participation within the educational experienceImplement assistive technology and adaptive equipment strategies for assigned students, with supervisory support from the full-time OTComplete progress reports and documentation for children receiving services on the assigned caseloadMaintain accurate records in accordance with professional standards, state guidelines, and Tennyson Center policyCollect and contribute data for quality improvement initiatives and program evaluation related to occupational therapy outcomesPrimarily work independently in clinical decision-making and service delivery for the assigned caseload while maintaining supervisory oversight and regular consultation with the full-time OTSupport quality improvement efforts through adherence to Tennyson Center policies, procedures, regulatory standards, and best practicesCommunicate regularly with the supervising OT regarding student progress, concerns, recommendations, and clinical decision-making for the assigned caseloadGathering appropriate information from students, parents and other team members regarding the child's functional motor performance in school settingsPhysical RequirementsFrequent lifting of 5 to 10 poundsOccasional lifting of up to 75 poundsFrequent sitting, bending, walking, stooping, kneeling, squatting, reaching, and standingAbility to respond appropriately to student needs in an educational environmentMust be able to successfully complete a pre-hire physicalMay be required to assist with physical strengths and needs of students as neededMust be able to successfully complete a pre-hire physicalMust be able to perform physical restraints or containments with an aggressive, physically acting-out childWorking ConditionsIn person on campus work/school and treatment environmentPart-time schedule: 20 hours per week (flexible scheduling to be determined)Works under the supervision of the Full-Time Occupational Therapist while independently managing and delivering services to an assigned student caseloadMinimum QualificationsBA/Master's degree from an accredited institution of higher educationValid Special Services Providers License in Occupational Therapy from Colorado Department of Education (CDE)Spanish speaking is preferred, but not requiredAll candidates must have (or qualify to obtain) a current Colorado driver's licenseAll positions require a pre-employment drug test, FBI fingerprint check, CBI criminal records check, child abuse registry check, motor vehicle record check, academic record verification, and reference checksBenefits This position is 20 hours per week and not eligible for benefits.
