School-Based Board Certified Behavior Analyst Job Summary The Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) is an integral part of the Student Support team at KIPP DC, ensuring the principles of applied behavioral analysis (ABA) methodology are implemented with fidelity to improve students’ social and behavioral functioning. BCBAs in KIPP DC begin at $82,620 and can earn up to $4,000 in renewal add‑ons each year. This is an exempt, full‑time, fully on‑site role with an immediate start date. Our network of 22 schools serves more than 7,500 students in grades PreK‑3 through 12, supported by 1,500 dedicated teachers, leaders, and staff. About the Role We are seeking a dynamic, committed, and flexible school‑based behavior analyst to provide behavioral analysis and intervention support for general education and special education students in grades PreK‑3 through 12. The analyst will collaborate closely with school mental health practitioners, student support teams, school leaders, and teachers to execute a tiered approach to behavior support at the school level. This exempt position reports to the Managing Director of Mental Health. Location and Type of Work As a headquarters team focused on meeting the needs of our schools and students, this role requires a fully on‑site presence. The analyst must be present in school during regular work hours: the position is currently required to be on‑site during school days. Responsibilities Behavior Analysis – 30% Consult on behavior plans for general education students. Develop and manage Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) for students receiving special education services, including: Support BIP implementation in classrooms through collaboration, information dissemination, and modeling with teachers and support staff. Conduct fidelity observations to ensure accurate implementation of strategies. Collect data related to BIP goals. Review and update behavior intervention plans in line with IEP compliance schedules. Attend review meetings with parents and school staff. Support students and teachers in the self‑contained Autism classrooms through collaboration, modeling, and consultation. Assessments and Report Writing – 30% Complete comprehensive functional behavioral assessments for general education and special education students. Conduct VBMAPP assessments for students in self‑contained programming, as appropriate, and consult on instructional goals and methods. Collaborative Teaming – 20% Demonstrate a positive, collaborative problem‑solving orientation with students, parents, educators, administrators, community members, and colleagues. Serve in a consultative role with school teams to offer prevention and intervention strategies for students in the RTI process; provide ongoing consultation to teachers, parents, and other personnel to resolve learning and behavioral problems. Train school staff in creating and executing evidence‑based behavior interventions for students, use of data collection tools, skill acquisition and behavior reduction techniques, and monitoring fidelity. Participate in multi‑disciplinary team meetings at schools to provide guidance on IEP goals, supports, and LRE placement. Coordinate with the KIPP DC Student Support Team on student cases. School and Community Support – 20% Serve as a full‑time and engaged member of the KIPP DC team. Believe deeply in the mission and values of KIPP DC. Hold high expectations for each student. Exhibit positive rapport with students. Establish and maintain strong communication lines with all stakeholders: administrators, teachers, parents, and other staff. Be self‑motivated, a team player, and exercise patience and professionalism. Requirements & Preferences Required Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Behavior Analysis, Applied Behavior Analysis, Education/Special Education, Psychology, or a related field. Certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), in good standing with the Behavior Analyst Certification Board. Extensive skills in behavioral assessment and behavior support plan development. Extensive knowledge of data analysis. Experience and commitment to working with students who have limited access to quality educational opportunities. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in an urban public school system. At least two years of experience as a BCBA. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 10 pounds. Ability to stand frequently. Ability to travel across KIPP DC schools and KIPP DC headquarters facilities. Benefits & Compensation BCBA salaries are exempt and start at $82,620, increasing with years of experience. BCBA can earn up to $4,000 in renewal add‑ons to their base salary each year they return to KIPP DC. Salary scale: see details provided by KIPP DC.
