Extruder Machine Operator, 3rd Shift (PARFLEX)

Position Summary Hose & Tubing Extrusion Machine Operator – Shape the Core of Critical Systems At Parflex, Extrusion Machine Operators run advanced thermoplastic and fluoropolymer extrusion equipment, producing hose and tubing that power high‑stakes systems worldwide, from aerospace and defense to renewable energy and transportation. U.S. military vehicles such as JLTV and FMTV Advanced aircraft including the F‑35 Lightning II and C‑130 Hercules Wind turbine braking systems and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles High‑pressure equipment for construction, oil & gas, and emergency rescue Schedule and Location Location: 1717 Dufek Drive, Manitowoc, WI. First shift training (approximately 3 months) on Monday‑Friday 6 am–2 pm followed by permanent third‑shift hours Sunday‑Thursday 10 pm–6 am. The facility is climate‑controlled year‑round. Responsibilities Set up and operate thermo‑plastic extruders and auxiliary equipment according to engineering specifications and make immediate corrections where possible. Use precision measuring instruments to perform required testing, record information, and ensure quality standards are met. Determine appropriate tooling changeover to maintain correct dimensions, monitor machines and process, and report irregularities to lead or supervisor for resolution. Handle material for each assigned process. Document, log, and compile required reports. Participate in area and process team projects and activities. Perform or assist with other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education, Training and Experience High school diploma or GED required. Machine operation experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. Knowledge and Skills Mathematical aptitude and proficiency. Keyboarding skills and basic MS Office knowledge. Ability to operate forklift and manual/electric jack; training will be provided. Measurement skills using precision tools. Attention to detail and ability to troubleshoot for process and product improvement. Effective English verbal communication and listening skills. Problem‑solving skills and ability to work under pressure. Prioritization and management of work projects. Physical Demands Standing for 8+ hours during a shift. Wear PPE: safety shoes, eye protection, hearing protection, safety vests, gloves. Frequent use of hands for tasks such as scissors, bending, taping, and connecting assemblies. Sorting items by size, shape, and color. Performing pushing, pulling, kneeling, and squatting. Lifting up to 45 pounds safely. Accurate color perception and hearing of plant paging, alarms, and other auditory signals. Work Environment Manufacturing plant with moving parts and equipment throughout the facility.
