TITLE: CT Technologist JOB OVERVIEW: Works under the guidance of the Lead technologist, Manager, Director, and the Radiologists. CT Techs are responsible for performing CT procedures producing quality imagery as well as maintaining and practicing proper radiation safety. They will perform a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative. Complies with all center policies and procedures and maintains a professional appearance and demeanor. Acts in support and in the best interest of the center. DEPARTMENT: Radiology WORK HOURS: Variable REPORTS TO: Radiology Manager Prerequisites Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required. CT certification required within 12 calendar months of hire. Current Washington State Radiologic Technologist Certification required. Current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers. Currently working as a full-time CT technologist with a minimum of one year of experience preferred. Qualifications Demonstrates excellent customer service skills working in an out-patient environment. Experience In Vascular Imaging Preferred. Multi-channel scanner experience preferred. Screening CT experience. Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously. Proof of exceptional work performance. Flexibility and adaptability. Able to set priorities, work accurately, and organize work efficiently. Able to communicate effectively in oral and written form. Bilingual preferred. Past history of demonstrated good attendance. Demonstrated behavior consistent with Valley Values and Performance Guidelines. Unique Physical/Mental Demands, Environment, And Working Conditions Requires working as part of a team at the direction of the Lead Technologist, Center Manager, or Radiologist to maintain effective operations. This includes lifting and carrying throughout the facility weighing up to thirty pounds. This position also requires manipulating and maneuvering patients for their procedures, standing sitting, walking swiftly, pulling, bending, and reaching up overhead. Requires moving quickly from one area to another under changing conditions depending on the workload. Requires ability to file accurately by color as well as alphabetical and numerical. Requires typing, legible penmanship, and computer data entry skills. Excellent telephone skills are essential for answering phone calls. Requires patient escort and transport ability, with the need to push patients in wheelchairs and on stretchers. Requires working around x-ray equipment and wearing lead aprons weighing twenty pounds. Regular and punctual attendance is a condition of employment. Performance Responsibilities Generic Job Functions: See Generic Job Description for Clinical Support Partner Essential Responsibilities and Competencies: Maintain All Required Certifications/licensures And Continuing Education Requirements. Greet and prepare patients for procedures. Review physician orders and patient information including questionnaires for accuracy. Explain procedures to patients. Review patient histories with attending radiologist prior to scanning. Perform intravenous injections as required. Assist physician with invasive procedures. Set up scan rooms and equipment and perform scans. Provide quality diagnostic scans in a timely manner. Document any reactions or incidents relating to the patient's visit. Report any scanner problems immediately to the lead technologist. Be available to work after hours to accommodate referrals. Follows radiation protection standards. Set up procedure trays utilizing aseptic technique. Provide CT and x-ray images as instructed by physicians and digitize to PACS system as required. Transfer patients to and from the CT scanners and the C-arm table. Inventory, order, stock linen and medical supplies including those for the crash cart. Keep the work area safe and clean. Accurately complete billing and patient information Know the location of safety and emergency supplies and equipment at all times. Accurately complete all required forms and paperwork. Attend all required meetings and perform other duties as required. Job Qualifications Multi-channel scanner experience preferred. Screening CT experience.
