Role Description The Human Resources Generalist at InStride Surfaces will support the full employee lifecycle, including onboarding, employee relations, performance processes, and offboarding. This full-time hybrid role is based in Los Angeles, CA, with a combination of in-office and work-from-home days. Daily responsibilities include administering HR policies and procedures, maintaining HR records, coordinating benefits enrollment and changes, and responding to employee inquiries. The role also involves supporting compliance with employment laws, assisting with HR reporting and documentation, and partnering with managers on HR-related issues. The Human Resources Generalist will collaborate across teams to foster a positive, inclusive workplace culture and ensure consistent HR practices. As we continue to grow across multiple markets, we are looking for an HR professional who can support both our people operations and payroll functions with accuracy, professionalism, and consistency. The Role The HR Generalist will support the daily human resources operations of the business while managing bi-weekly payroll administration and employee support functions across multiple states. This role requires someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, trustworthy, and capable of operating in a fast-moving environment where accuracy, compliance, and confidentiality are critical. Key Responsibilities HR & People Operations Manage onboarding and new hire documentation Maintain employee files and HR records Assist with recruiting coordination and interview scheduling Support employee relations and HR documentation processes Help ensure compliance with company policies and multi-state labor law requirements Coordinate benefits administration and employee support requests Support internal communication and workplace culture initiatives Onboarding/Offboarding and risk mitigation Unemployment Claims Support & Advisory Own HRIS administration and process improvements Own employee handbook, company policy (PTO, etc) and rollouts Payroll Administration Process accurate and timely bi-weekly payroll Collaborate with Finance to maintain payroll records, employee updates, reimbursements, deductions, commissions, and timekeeping records Assist with payroll reporting, reconciliations, and payroll adjustments Support payroll audits, reporting, and documentation requests Help ensure compliance with wage and labor laws across multiple states as the company continues to expand Set-up multi-state withholding, EEOC and documentation standards What Success Looks Like Payroll is processed accurately and consistently without delays HR records and employee documentation remain organized and compliant Employees receive timely support and communication Leadership can rely on HR for professionalism, discretion, and operational follow-through Qualifications 3+ years of HR, payroll, or people operations experience Experience processing bi-weekly payroll required Multi-state payroll and labor law experience strongly preferred Familiarity with HRIS and payroll systems (Rippling experience preferred) Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism Experience supporting fast-growing organizations preferred Preferred Traits Calm and composed under pressure Strong sense of accountability Solutions-oriented mindset Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously Strong follow-through and communication skills Why InStride Opportunity to help shape a growing national organization Fast-moving and collaborative environment Leadership team focused on accountability and execution Long-term growth opportunities within the company Benefits Competitive compensation Health, dental, and vision benefits Paid time off Employee growth opportunities #J-18808-Ljbffr
