Description: Local rate applies to clinicians with permanent addresses within the specified distance. Call-off policy allows for an equivalent of 12 hours every 13 weeks without penalty. Non-billable orientation hours will not apply during the orientation period. Unit has 18 beds in one section and 22 beds in another. Staffing ratio for days is 1 nurse to 5 patients. Staffing ratio for nights is 1 nurse to 5-6 patients. Common diagnoses include pneumonia, heart failure, sepsis, COPD, urologic issues, surgical cases, total joints, general surgery, and occasional pediatric respiratory illnesses. Teamwork and communication with patient care technicians is essential. Nurses are not required to titrate drips. Charge Nurse and Administrative Supervisor are present on each shift, with the Charge Nurse taking 1-2 patients. Patient care technicians are available with ratios varying by shift. Registered Nurses monitor telemetry strips and are familiar with virtual central telemetry monitoring systems. Shifts are 12 hours, scheduled from 0700 to 1930 and 1900 to 0730. Weekend requirements are every other weekend. Holidays are included in the rotation for both day and night shifts. Low census protocols are in place for re-evaluation every 4 hours. Floating may occur to the ICU for acute overflow or to the nearest facility as needed, with notification given prior to the shift. Scrubs should be solid color, with no prints allowed. Unit-specific orientation usually consists of 3 shifts. The charting system used is EPIC. A BSN is not required for submission. This role requires an acute care setting experience.
