Safety Specialist

Company Description Collier Safety Services, LLC is a specialized safety and industrial hygiene consulting firm providing on‑site safety professionals, OSHA and MSHA training, and customized safety and health training programs. The company develops corporate safety and health manuals, conducts OSHA compliance audits, and leads accident investigations to help clients maintain safe and compliant operations. Its industrial hygiene services include air sampling strategy development, personal and area air sampling, asbestos air sampling, and exposure assessments. Collier Safety Services also advises on engineering controls, performs noise surveys, and offers metals analysis using calibrated XRF or alloy analyzers, supporting a wide range of industrial and commercial environments. Role Description The Safety Specialist is a full‑time, on‑site role based in the Greater Columbus Area. This position is responsible for supporting client workplaces through daily safety monitoring, coaching, and documentation to promote a strong safety culture. Typical duties include assisting with safety training sessions, participating in accident and incident investigations, and helping conduct safety audits and inspections for regulatory compliance. The Safety Specialist will collaborate with project teams and leadership to identify hazards, recommend corrective actions, and support the development and implementation of safety programs and procedures. The role also involves maintaining accurate records, preparing clear reports, and communicating safety expectations to workers and supervisors. Qualifications Demonstrated knowledge in Health & Safety and Occupational Health, with the ability to apply regulations and best practices in diverse work environments. Experience with Environment Health and Safety (EHS) program support, including hazard identification, risk assessment, and implementation of corrective actions. Skills in Safety Training, including delivering or supporting safety and health training sessions for various audiences. Competence in Accident Investigation, including data collection, root cause analysis, and report preparation. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly present safety information and write concise reports and documentation. Attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to prioritize tasks in fast‑paced, field‑based environments. Proficiency with standard office software (e.g., word processing, spreadsheets, presentation tools) for documentation and reporting. Relevant education in safety, industrial hygiene, environmental science, or a related field; professional certifications (e.g., OSHA training, CSP, CHST, or equivalent) are beneficial.
