Registered Nurse IMC/PCU/Stepdown

Job Summary:

Provide specialized nursing care to patients in a Medical/Surgical Progressive Care Unit (IMC/PCU/Stepdown). Monitor patient conditions, administer treatments, and collaborate with healthcare teams to promote optimal recovery.

Responsibilities:

• 
  Assess patient vital signs and clinical status to identify changes requiring intervention.
  
  
• 
  Administer medications, including cardiac drips, insulin, and heparin, following prescribed protocols.
  
  
• 
  Perform advanced procedures such as peritoneal dialysis, thoracentesis, and chest tube insertions.
  
  
• 
  Monitor EKG rhythms, interpret cardiac tracings, and respond to arrhythmias promptly.
  
  
• 
  Document patient care accurately in Meditech and communicate updates through hourly and bi-hourly rounds.
  
  
• 
  Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient management, including wound care and ventilator support.
  
  

Qualifications:

• 
  Possess a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license with at least 2 years of acute care experience.
  
  
• 
  Demonstrate proficiency in EKG interpretation, cardiac drips, and advanced nursing skills.
  
  
• 
  Have current BLS and ACLS certifications.
  
  
• 
  Experience with critical care equipment including Bipaps, high flow oxygen, and vapotherm.
  
  
• 
  Knowledge of peritoneal dialysis, NG tube placements, and wound vac management preferred.
  
  
• 
  Ability to float across PCU and med-surg units as needed.
