Public Health Pre-Registered Dietitian

Overview The Department of Public Health (DPH) is recruiting for Pre‑Registered Dietitians who plan, develop, implement, and evaluate community nutrition programs for targeted populations. Pre‑Registered Dietitians work under close supervision while waiting to take the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics examination for registration as a Registered Dietitian. Immediate vacancies exist within the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program. Responsibilities Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate community nutrition programs for target populations. Eligibility and Qualifications Option 1: Possession of a bachelor’s or higher degree in Nutrition, Public Health Nutrition, Dietetics, Nutrition Science, Food and Nutrition, Food Science, Nutrition and Health, Community Nutrition, Home Economics with Nutrition emphasis, or a closely related field of study. Option 2: Eligibility to take the RD examination (registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration and receipt of an Authorization to Test email from Pearson VUE). Completing all academic and supervised practice requirements is required. Bilingual Skills Fluency in American Sign Language, Arabic, Korean, Mandarin, Spanish, and/or Vietnamese is encouraged; additional compensation may be available for bilingual positions. Conditions of Employment Travel throughout the County may be required. Pre‑Employment Process: Background investigation, employment and education verification, fingerprinting, physical exam, and drug screening. Visa Sponsorship: The County does not sponsor candidates requiring visa assistance. Dietitian Registration: After obtaining a Dietitian Registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration, the incumbent may be eligible to promote to the Registered Dietitian classification.
