Echocardiography Technologist

Position Objective Performs echocardiographic procedures, using special equipment, to measure, calculate, and report pertinent patient data to facilitate accurate diagnostic outcomes. Conduct Echocardiograms as requested throughout the Medical Center, including all patient rooms and the emergency department. Explain the procedure to patients, providing instructions and direct care to ensure accuracy and patient comfort. Assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information to identify each patient’s needs. Recognize artifacts, eliminate probable sources, and troubleshoot minor equipment problems. Consistently meet department standards for RVUs while maintaining quality work. Process images acquired from different modalities according to established policies and procedures. Perform data entry related to procedures, including charges pick lists, logbook entries, and schedule functions to ensure corporate compliance. Practice radiation safety and ensure compliance by other staff and students. Obtain pertinent clinical data relevant to procedures performed. Analyze, process, and report outcomes in a timely manner. Educational/Experience Requirements High school graduate or equivalent. Completion of an accredited echo course. Certification or 3 years of experience with specialized training in echocardiology, with the ability to perform, measure, and preliminarily interpret echocardiographic studies. Required License/Certifications Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS CPR certification, obtained within 90 days of hire.
