Sparkfund is looking for a Senior Manager, Project Management with significant construction project delivery experience and a background in the energy industry to lead the planning and execution of a portfolio of complex energy and infrastructure projects.

This is a construction and energy project delivery role . Candidates must have direct experience managing the execution of construction projects involving energy infrastructure, electrical systems,, controls, distributed generation, battery energy storage, solar,or comparable energy technologies.

The Senior Manager will oversee multiple customer EPC projects, directly manage Project Managers and Project Coordinators, and serve as a primary point of contact for customer stakeholders. This role is accountable for project execution across scope, schedule, budget, safety, quality, and customer expectations.

This position must be based in the Minneapolis area . While Sparkfund operates as a remote-first company, this role will have regular engagement with our Minneapolis hub and local team, in addition to travel to project sites.

Success in this role requires someone who understands how construction and energy projects move from development into field execution and can lead both a complex project portfolio and the people responsible for delivering it.

• Oversee the planning, coordination, construction, and delivery of a portfolio of customer EPC and energy infrastructure projects
• Manage portfolio performance across scope, schedule, budget, safety, quality, and customer requirements
• Monitor construction schedules, project milestones, cost forecasts, risks, change orders, and delivery dependencies
• Identify potential schedule delays, budget concerns, site issues, and construction risks early and drive resolution
• Lead the resolution of escalated project and construction issues in partnership with internal teams, contractors, vendors, and customers
• Own portfolio-level budgeting, cost forecasting, financial performance, and variance management
• Review and administer project contracts, scopes of work, change orders, and construction-related commitments
• Partner with Project Development and Commercial teams during early project stages to evaluate constructability, execution risk, cost assumptions, and delivery requirements

• Directly manage and develop Project Managers and Project Coordinators responsible for construction and project delivery
• Set clear priorities, expectations, performance standards, and accountability across the team
• Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and professional development support
• Create consistency across project planning, documentation, financial management, risk management, and customer communication
• Partner with the broader Project Delivery organization to strengthen project management tools, processes, and operating practices

• Serve as a trusted Sparkfund point of contact for customer stakeholders throughout project execution
• Maintain strong customer relationships and ensure alignment with project commitments and expectations
• Communicate construction progress, schedules, risks, delays, budget impacts, and resolution plans clearly and proactively
• Present portfolio and project information to internal leaders, customers, contractors, and executive stakeholders
• Translate technical and construction information into clear, practical updates for non-technical audiences
• Organize and deliver weekly, quarterly, and annual reporting on portfolio and project performance

• Work closely with Project Delivery, Programs, Project Development, Commercial Solutions, EH&S, Finance, and Customer Experience
• Provide project delivery expertise related to energy efficiency, distributed energy resources, and sustainable infrastructure
• Help ensure customer commitments made during development and contracting can be successfully executed in the field
• Align commercial, technical, financial, safety, and operational requirements throughout the project lifecycle

• 10+ years of construction project management, construction management, EPC project delivery, or trade contracting experience
• Direct professional experience delivering energy or energy-related construction projects
• Experience delivering projects involving one or more of the following: electrical systems, HVAC, building controls, distributed generation, battery energy storage, solar, EV charging, generators, energy efficiency, or comparable energy infrastructure
• Experience managing multiple concurrent construction projects or a portfolio of projects through execution
• Experience directly managing Project Managers, Construction Managers, Project Coordinators, or similar project delivery professionals
• Strong construction scheduling, budgeting, cost forecasting, risk management, and change management experience
• Experience reviewing and administering construction contracts, scopes of work, change orders, and project requirements
• Experience working directly with contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and field-based project teams
• Demonstrated ability to manage customer relationships and communicate effectively with executive stakeholders
• Strong understanding of job-site safety and construction safety practices
• Proficiency with project management software and cloud-based information management tools
• Must be based in the Minneapolis area
• Ability to travel approximately 10–30%, depending on project portfolio

This role requires direct construction and energy project delivery experience. General project or program management experience in financial services, healthcare, software, manufacturing, or other non-construction environments does not substitute for the required construction and energy experience.

• Experience delivering EPC projects
• Battery energy storage, utility, renewable energy, distributed energy, or energy services experience
• Experience using Procore or comparable construction management software
• Project development experience in clean energy, resilience, distributed energy, or energy efficiency
• Experience working with engineering firms, general contractors, specialty contractors, and equipment manufacturers
• Familiarity with Salesforce, Google Workspace, Microsoft applications, and Slack
• Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Construction Manager (CCM), or another relevant certification
• OSHA, NFPA, or other construction and safety training or certifications

You can step above individual projects and manage the health of an entire portfolio, balancing scope, schedule, budget, safety, quality, customer expectations, and risk across multiple projects simultaneously.

You understand what it takes to execute construction projects in the field and can apply that experience within energy and infrastructure environments. You're comfortable engaging with contractors, technical teams, site personnel, customers, and internal stakeholders.

You set clear expectations, create accountability, and develop Project Managers and Coordinators through coaching, feedback, and ongoing support.

You build credibility with customers and communicate project status, risks, challenges, and solutions clearly, including with senior and executive stakeholders.

You can make sound decisions when information is incomplete, prioritize competing needs, and keep projects moving in a dynamic environment.

You work effectively across technical, commercial, financial, operational, and customer-facing teams and understand that successful project delivery requires alignment across the organization.

The approved salary range for this position is $165,000–$209,000 , based on experience, qualifications, and location.

Where applicable, this position may also be eligible for discretionary bonus or incentive compensation. Any such compensation is separate from base salary and is not guaranteed. Eligibility, amounts, and payment are subject to applicable plan terms, company performance, individual performance, and other business considerations.

Sparkfund is a remote-first company with emerging hub offices in Denver, Minneapolis, and Washington, DC.

This position is remote-flexible but must be based in the Minneapolis area , with regular engagement with Sparkfund's Minneapolis hub and local team.

Travel within the continental United States is expected approximately 10–30%, depending on portfolio needs, including periodic visits to active construction and project sites.
