Primary Duties & Responsibilities Facility Operations & Compliance
- Oversee daily operations of the childcare facility, ensuring safety, compliance, and quality care.
- Ensure compliance with Mt. Bachelor policies, DELC rules, and all federal, state, and county regulations.
- Maintain required records, forms, and compliance documentation.
- Establish and enforce departmental standards and safety procedures.
- Oversee laundry, food service presentation, and sanitation compliance.
- Participate in Safety Committee communications and ensure safety standards are upheld.
- Serve as the licensed Director of Record with the Oregon Department of Early Learning and Care (DELC), maintaining all required certifications and credentials for facility licensure.
- Manage all aspects of the state license renewal process, including timely submission of required documentation, staff ratio records, facility inspection readiness, and corrective action responses.
- Ensure all staff meet and maintain DELC training and background check requirements, including CBR compliance, and maintain current records for licensing audits.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all DELC inspections, communications, and licensing inquiries on behalf of Mt. Bachelor.
- Hire, train, supervise, evaluate, discipline, and terminate staff as needed in alignment with policies.
- Develop staff schedules ensuring proper ratios and coverage at all times.
- Train and cross-train employees and support ongoing professional development.
- Attend at least one professional development program annually.
- Coordinate and plan curriculum-based activities.
- Develop operational plans, training manuals, and childcare program materials.
- Coordinate with SRS to support partnership ski programs.
- Develop and manage annual budgets, including purchasing and resource allocation.
- Monitor daily staffing, supplies, operations, and facility needs.
- Deposit and track departmental revenue and records.
- Coordinate with Executive Chef on meal programs.
- Collaborate with Sales and Marketing on childcare information and reservations.
- Maintain communication with parents regarding daily childcare activities.
- Assist with resort-wide operations as needed, including supporting other departments and mountain sports programs during peak periods or in response to operational needs.
- Attend all required resort manager meetings, leadership trainings, and company-mandated gatherings as directed by resort leadership.
- Participate in resort-wide events, seasonal celebrations, and community-facing activities that support the Mt. Bachelor guest experience and team culture.

Supervisory Responsibilities
- Number of employees supervised: Up to 25
- Positions Supervised: Childcare Supervisor, Childcare Teachers, & Childcare Aides
- Scheduling and assigning work: Develop and maintain staff schedules to ensure proper child-to-staff ratios and operational coverage.
- Training: Lead onboarding, initial training, and ongoing professional development for all childcare staff.
- Salary Actions: Works with Director of Mountain Sports on wage and salary actions.
- Disciplinary actions: Yes, oversees all disciplinary actions in alignment with company policy.
- Performance review: Conducts formal performance evaluations for all direct reports.
- Hiring/Termination: Full authority to hire and terminate in coordination with HR and the Director of Mountain Sports.
Specific Job Skills
- License/Certification: Must meet Oregon Department of Early Learning and Care (DELC) licensing requirements for a childcare director role. Oregon Early Learning and Child Care (OLEC) Teacher Certification required. Must have an active CBR number or ability to obtain one prior to starting. First Aid/CPR certification required. Food Handler's Card required.
- Technical : Computer knowledge (Microsoft Office required; RTP and ADP knowledge a plus). Working knowledge of Oregon Early Learning and Child Care Division (OELD) policies preferred. Strong organizational and record-keeping skills required.
- Physical Capabilities: Able to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Able to lift up to 35 lbs (including small children). Able to bend, reach, climb, push, and pull frequently. Able to stand for extended periods. Must maintain visual awareness and respond quickly to changing situations involving children.
- Additional: Must be extremely patient with a high level of organizational skill. Able to work flexible hours based on operational needs. Due to the sensitive nature of this position, a criminal background check will be conducted after the position is accepted and results will determine the conditional job offer. This background check will be done in accordance with standards enacted under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).
- Minimum Education: Oregon Early Learning and Child Care (OLEC) Teacher Certification required. Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or Education preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Minimum time in related position: Minimum 2 years of related childcare management experience required.
