Primary City/State: Glendale, Arizona Department Name: Neonatal ICU (NICU)-Hosp Work Shift: Day Job Category: Nursing Position Summary This position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and standards of professional nursing practice. The nurse is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by themselves or others under their direction, utilizing specialized knowledge and judgment to assess data and plan care appropriate to the physical and developmental age of assigned patients. Core Functions Assesses patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational and developmental needs, reviews patient history and physical, diagnostics, and laboratory data, and reports abnormal results to physicians and other care team members. Formulates and initiates individualized plans of care, including discharge plans, based on assessment data and patient/family input; revises plans as patient needs change. Implements the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of the health care team; ensures compliance with policies, procedures, standards of care, and regulatory requirements. Evaluates patient and family response to care and teaching; revises the plan of care when necessary. Documents assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record; ensures documentation is legible, timely, and accurate. Provides evidence‑based care and may participate in research activities within clinical practice; contributes to shared leadership and education of staff, patients, families, and visitors. Participates in the improvement of national nursing quality indicators and outcomes; engages in professional organizations. May supervise staff and workflow of the department and interacts with all levels of staff, physicians, patients, families, and external contacts. Minimum Qualifications Current, valid RN license in the state of practice (or temporary/interim RN license or compact RN licensure). BLS certification required. Prior RN NICU experience required. Experience in an acute care setting within the past 12 months as a registered nurse in a specialty area; a minimum of one year of experience in an acute care hospital required for registry and travel positions. For home health positions, ability to operate a personal vehicle and possession of a valid driver’s license and active auto insurance are required. Behaviors and safety requirements: All staff in behavioral health roles must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card and an Arizona Criminal History Affidavit at the time of hire, maintained for the duration of employment.
