You will serve as a RISK MANAGER in the Operations Department, Code 300, Operations Planning Manager, Code 300.1 of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

Help

• You will provide assessments of all risks associated with very difficult and complex ship repair, maintenance and major overhaul work performed onboard as assigned ship/submarine repair.
• You will provide assessment and risk handling strategies from initial planning stage through execution of all maintenance work ending at the delivery of ship/submarine back to operational fleet.
• You will lead meetings and provide guidance for attendees/members in a timely matter.

• You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
• Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

• Experience with risk management for complex naval ship and submarine overhaul, repair, and conversion.
• Experience utilizing management information systems and databases to collect metrics, analyze operational data, apply fact-finding techniques, and provide executive-level assessments and recommendations.
• Experience utilizing quantitative analysis and advanced evaluative methods to assess risks and develop comprehensive solutions for complex challenges impacting cost, schedule, technical quality, and environmental/safety.
• Experience advising senior management on the acceptance, mitigation, transfer, or avoidance of operational risks.
