Join a dedicated healthcare team in the heart of the Midwest region as an Arrhythmia Scope Technician specializing in telemetry monitoring. This part-time A-shift role is essential for patient care units, combining technical monitoring with clerical support to ensure smooth operations and patient safety.
General Summary The Scope Technician is responsible for continuous observation of telemetry monitors, identifying cardiac rhythm patterns, and performing receptionist and secretarial duties within the patient care unit. This role serves as a key communication hub at the nursing station. Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Adhere to established patient safety protocols, including infection prevention measures.
- Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms and promptly identify any significant changes.
- Ensure telemetry equipment is functioning correctly and notify trained personnel if issues arise.
- Communicate with nursing staff regarding patient monitoring concerns such as lead attachment problems or rhythm changes.
- Perform clerical tasks including filing, printing, copying, charge entry, and supply ordering to support unit operations.
- Maintain accurate patient identification on chart forms and prepare records for scanning and discharge processes.
- Document rhythm changes during treatments and regularly post telemetry strips every four hours or as needed.
- Keep patient information boards current and answer phones with professionalism and excellent customer service skills.
- Coordinate with ancillary departments to schedule tests and procedures efficiently.
- Adapt positively to changes while supporting the organization's mission, vision, and values.
- Maintain a clean, organized work environment and comply with all appearance, behavior, and attendance policies.
Education High school diploma or GED is required. Experience At least one year of experience in clerical, receptionist, or hospital duties is preferred. Strong organization, time management, typing, and basic computer skills are essential. Certification and License American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. Successful completion of a Basic Arrhythmia course will be completed upon hire. Mental and Physical Requirements This role requires considerable mental focus, frequent walking, standing, and the ability to lift up to 25 pounds. Activities include turning, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching. Working Conditions Frequent exposure to infectious diseases and occasional encounters with hostile individuals may occur. Exposure to communicable diseases through blood and body fluids is possible. Minimal physical discomfort is expected.
