Legal Assistant Position: Legal Assistant Date Open: September 22, 2026 Closes: Open until filled, First review of applications will be on Tuesday, October 6, 2026 Salary: $5,436 - $6,631/mo (Table 0 – Range 15) Status: fulltime, non-exempt General Function Under the direction of the City Attorney, plan and perform a variety of complex administrative office functions to assure smooth, timely and efficient office operations for the department; perform a variety of legal secretarial, administrative, clerical, receptionist, public relations and other related office support activities; assist the City Attorney with technical clerical and administrative duties having department wide impact; collect, analyze and compile data and information for inclusion in reports; maintain financial records, files and budgets related to departmental operations, programs and expenditures. Work with the court, police department and prosecutor to assure the processing of legal reports and citations. This class description reflects the general concept and intent of the classification and should not be construed as a detailed statement of all the work requirements that may be inherent in a position. Education and Experience High school diploma or GED and work in legal secretary, business administration, office management, secretarial training or related field and four years of increasingly responsible secretarial or administrative office support experience and at least one year of experience as a legal secretary. Special Requirements Must pass a criminal background check, credit check and sign a confidentiality agreement.
