Yard Manager - Lumber Details: Direct Hire position $ 75,000.00 to $ 85,000.00 / annually First Shift Supervise daily yard operations, including receiving, production, inventory, and shipping of building materials Lead and coordinate yard employees to ensure proper staffing, productivity, and workflow. Schedule production and coordinate with the Operations Manager to meet operational needs and customer expectations. Work closely with the sales team to resolve order issues and ensure accurate, timely delivery of materials to job sites. Monitor inventory levels, material usage, costs, and trends to maintain appropriate stock levels. Request inventory purchases from the Inventory Manager as needed. Protect company facilities, equipment, materials, and inventory from damage, loss, or misuse. Serve as the Safety Leader for the yard and ensure employees follow company safety policies and procedures Ensure equipment, work areas, and yard conditions meet company safety standards, including proper use of equipment guards and safety procedures. Assist with employee training, safety compliance, and performance management in coordination with Human Resources. Address employee relations matters, including counseling, progressive discipline, promotions, demotions, and terminations, as appropriate. Ensure all yard operations comply with company policies and applicable OSHA, DOT, FMCSA, and other federal and state regulations. Communicate effectively with employees, management, customers, and other departments to resolve issues and maintain efficient operations. Take on additional responsibilities and duties as needed to support the business. Minimal travel may be required. Yard Manager - Lumber Qualifications: Previous supervisory or management experience in a yard, warehouse, manufacturing, distribution, or construction-related environment. Working knowledge of building materials, construction materials, and job-site processes. Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to anticipate, analyze, and proactively solve problems. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with employees, management, sales teams, and customers. Ability to lead, motivate, and hold employees accountable while maintaining a positive team environment. Forklift certification required. Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and FMCSA requirements is preferred.
