Medical Assistant II

Location: Plymouth, MA
Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire
Pay Rate: $22.00-$24.00/hour
Schedule: Monday-Friday with one late-night shift on Wednesday

We are seeking a compassionate and engaging Medical Assistant II to join a mission-driven healthcare team supporting patients in recovery. You'll work closely with medical providers and clinical staff to provide high-quality, patient-centered care while helping keep daily clinic operations running smoothly.

The ideal candidate is warm, empathetic, and comfortable working with diverse patient populations, including individuals with substance use disorders. This is a great opportunity for a Medical Assistant who enjoys building relationships with patients and wants to make a meaningful impact in a collaborative healthcare environment.

• Prepare patients for exams by obtaining medical histories, vital signs, and other clinical information.

• Perform phlebotomy, urine drug screenings, and CLIA-waived testing.

• Administer injections according to provider direction and training.

• Assist with prescription management and medication counts.

• Conduct appointment reminders, patient outreach, re-engagement, and patient follow-up.

• Maintain accurate patient documentation in the EMR.

• Manage laboratory and PPE supplies.

• Collaborate with front desk and clinical teams to support daily workflow.

• Follow patient safety, confidentiality, infection control, and other clinical protocols.

• Help create a welcoming and supportive environment for every patient.

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Completion of a Medical Assistant, Phlebotomy, EMT, or LPN program .

• At least 1 year of Medical Assistant experience , including hands-on phlebotomy.

• Confidence performing phlebotomy and urine drug screens.

• Willingness to train on injections if not already proficient.

• Comfortable working with patients experiencing substance use disorders.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a warm, compassionate, and nonjudgmental approach.

• Proficiency with EMRs and Microsoft Office.

• BLS certification or ability to obtain BLS within 90 days.

Preferred: Experience in behavioral health, substance use treatment, billing, or other healthcare settings.

Monday: 9:00 AM-5:00 PM
Tuesday: 9:00 AM-5:00 PM
Wednesday: Late-night shift - varies based on clinic needs
Thursday: 9:00 AM-5:00 PM
Friday: 9:00 AM-2:00 PM

The Wednesday late-night shift is balanced by the short Friday schedule , giving you an earlier end to the workweek.
