Temporary Admissions Counselor

Admissions Counselor, Temporary Position (Part‑time, Campus‑based) Overview The Temporary Admissions Counselor is a part‑time, campus‑based, temporary non‑faculty professional exempt position in the Office of Admissions at Colorado School of Mines. The role reports to the Director of Admissions for Recruitment Strategy and works with the Enrollment Management team to support first‑year and transfer recruiting, enrollment, campus visits, event support, and related enrollment functions. Travel may be required during the fall and spring semesters. Responsibilities Recruitment and Outreach (80%) – Provide excellent customer service to prospective students, families, school officials, and campus constituents; offer admission counseling and information; support students through the application process; represent Mines at on‑ and off‑campus events; evaluate applicant credentials and make independent admissions decisions. Campus Visit and Event Support (15%) – Assist with daily campus visits and tours, deliver information sessions, and welcome visitors to campus. Other Duties as Assigned (5%) – Perform additional tasks as needed to meet program objectives and Mines goals. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree. Experience in college admissions, student services, customer service, or sales. Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Positive attitude, independent work ethic, and ability to balance multiple priorities. Strong project management skills, resourcefulness, sound judgment, and the capacity to work well under pressure and meet deadlines. Ability to travel throughout the assigned region for extended periods. Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience as an admissions counselor. Experience using data to inform decisions. Proficiency with an admissions CRM, ideally Slate. Knowledge of recruitment strategies for selective STEM institutions. Bilingualism. Salary $24 – $27 per hour. Work Hours & Term 15–30 hours per week, part‑time, ending no later than November 15, 2026.
