We issue air, water, and solid and hazardous waste permits that restrict discharges to environmentally safe levels. Staff members inspect and monitor regulated entities; provide compliance and technical assistance; monitor and assess air, land, and water quality; use enforcement actions as necessary to ensure compliance; and respond to incidents involving spills to soil or waters of the state.Role Overview: Four years of experience preferred but not required. No engineering license required for this position. We offer education reimbursement to help those interested in obtaining licensure. This role is responsible for reviewing permit applications and engineering designs in the Confined Feeding Program using 327 IAC 19 and/or to support the Remediation Branch performing technical reviews of remediation engineering projects. This is an office position but occasional site visits are necessary to ensure that the permit applications and remediation projects meet State of Indiana's rules and guidance.In order to succeed in this role, the ideal candidate should have a fundamental knowledge of engineering; a passion to protect human health and the environment; and effective writing skills.
