About the Position

Job Title: RN - MedSurg/Tele Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: MedSurg/Tele Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 18 months Med/Tele RN experience License: RN Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Basic Med/Tele skillset, including cardiac rhythm interpretation. Experience with non-titrating cardiac drips. General medical/surgical skillset for patient care with tubes/drains. IV start skills, blood products administration, wound care, and dressing changes. Description: The RN will provide care in a fast-paced MedSurg/Tele unit. The unit typically has 24 beds with an average daily census of 24 patients. Patient types and common diagnoses include various cardiac, respiratory, neuro conditions, and observation patients. Patient-to-nurse ratios are RN: 1:5-6 on days and nights, with the possibility of surge staffing leading to ratios of up to 1:7-8. CNA support is provided with a ratio of 1:12. There will be a charge nurse available as a resource, who may also have a patient assignment. Support staff includes phlebotomy services, 24/7 respiratory therapy, and an intensivist. Telemetry monitoring is conducted remotely with the assistance of a telemetry technician. The department utilizes an EMR system, requiring at least 6 months of experience. Floating within the region and scope of practice will be necessary, and travelers will be compensated for travel time between facilities. The nursing schedule includes a weekend rotation and a possibility of low census call back. Travelers can expect to work 75% of holidays. Request time off can be approved for up to 6 days, excluding holidays. Shift times are 0645-1915 and 1845-0715, with a schedule cycle of every 6 weeks.
