Job Summary

The Manufacturing Engineering Technician I – Assembly supports engineering and production activities involving the build, integration, testing, and troubleshooting of electro-mechanical assemblies.

The role focuses on hands-on assembly of drone-based agricultural sensor systems, production support, design-for-manufacturing improvements, quality troubleshooting, and transitioning mature engineering designs into production.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform technical build assembly and electro-mechanical component integration.
• Support wired assembly integration and box builds.
• Perform system checkout, testing, and fault/debug activities.
• Perform optical assembly, alignment, and focusing.
• Support production schedule planning and ensure timely completion of production orders.
• Ensure sufficient material supply to support production.
• Perform diagnostic analysis, repair damaged equipment, and investigate product faults.
• Support flight testing and document checkout/test results.
• Contribute to production design updates and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) activities.
• Support transition of mature designs into factory production.
• Maintain and update existing product designs.
• Develop external technical documentation for third-party manufacturers.
• Work with electrical hardware designers on circuit card assembly requirements, including size, shape, connectors, indicators, and user inputs.
• Support CCA programming and system-level testing.
• Help eliminate production defects and improve manufacturing processes and products.
• Facilitate engineering/production change management, including drawings and design updates.
• Act as a technical liaison between engineering teams regarding new and existing products.
• Serve as the technical point of contact for contract manufacturers and manage technical data package documentation.
• Support and review Quality Assurance processes with contract manufacturers.
• Prioritize production assembly support for customer orders.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Mechanics.
• 1+ year of experience with PTC Creo.
• Ability to interpret technical requirements independently.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a team.
• Ability to scope work and meet deadlines.
• Highly motivated and willing to learn.

Certification

• FAA Part 107 certification must be obtained within 3 months of employment.

Preferred / Manager Notes

• Previous assembly or production experience is preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude is important.
• Candidates must be willing to learn and adapt.
• Recent graduates may be considered.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• Approximately 75% of the workday is spent on your feet.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. is required.

Travel

• May require travel using a personal vehicle.
• Travel will be within approximately a 30-mile radius of the facility.
