About The Role: The Machinist I i s responsible for setting up and operating conventional, special purpose, numerical control machines, and machining centers to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts. The position is expected to assist other Machinists while learning to work more independently. Work is closely supervised and follows routine standard processes. Starting Pay: $19.85, can increase based on experience Schedule: Monday – Friday 2:30 PM CST - 11:00 PM CST Overtime based on business need Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpieces Demonstrate the ability to follow the sequence of operations and setup requirements Measures, marks, scribes dimensions, and reference points on material or workpieces as a guide for subsequent machining Selects, aligns and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes and grinders Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, depth and angle of cut Enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, adjusting machine controls or control media as required Verifies compliance of finished workpiece to specifications Sets up and operates the machine on trial run to verify accuracy of the machine settings or the programmed control data Fits and assembles parts into complete assembly Verifies dimensions and alignment of assembly Ability to identify worn tooling, installing replacement inserts, grind wheels and carbide cutters on equipment and maintains daily PM as required Collaborates with engineers, production personnel, programmers or others to resolve machining or assembly problems Experience with CNC controls: Fanuc, Mazatrol and Okuma OSP desired Performs other duties as assigned Additional Requirements: Currently working on main campus at SPM Oil & Gas High school diploma with up to 3 months related workplace experience; or six months vocational/technical training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience Demonstrate the ability to accurately complete all work-related documents Understand basic operating principles for all plant machinery Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions and deal with problems Must have mechanical aptitude Observe safety and security procedures Physical Demands: Frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear Required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depthperceptionand ability to adjust focus Must be able to wear protective footwear and other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by the department Regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places and vibration Summary Pay Range: $24.15 - $32.35 Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location,job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience.
