Position located in the Nursing Department of SW Louisiana Veterans Home in Jennings, Louisiana. Pay and Shift Differentials Hourly Rate (Special Entrance Rate): LPN 1: $19.48 plus $7.00 per hour physically worked LPN 2: $20.84 plus $7.00 per hour physically worked LPN 3: $22.30 plus $7.00 per hour physically worked Shift Differentials (per hour physically worked): 1st shift (weekends, holidays, weekend holidays): $3.00 2nd shift (weekdays): $3.00 2nd shift (weekends, holidays, weekend holidays): $4.00 3rd shift (weekdays): $4.00 3rd shift (weekends, holidays, weekend holidays): $5.00 Qualifications Current Louisiana Practical Nurse license, temporary permit, or multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state Responsibilities Provide basic nursing care to patients/clients in stable conditions and predictable situations in accordance with the Professional Nurses Practice Act. Implement selective aspects of the nursing care plan (comfort, hygiene, safety, nutrition, etc.) under supervision from a Registered Nurse or higher-level Practical Nurse. Observe patients for changes in physical/mental status or behavior and report significant changes. Obtain specimens for laboratory testing as assigned. Take vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure). Administer medication and treatments per policies and procedures. Transcribe physicians' orders, record medication, and patient condition on charts and records. Receive and give shift change reports. Request stock drugs, medications, and supplies as assigned. Administer CPR in emergency situations. Admit, transfer, and discharge patients. Gather information about patient's past and current physical and mental status. May administer oral and parenteral medication as prescribed and document procedures. Apply dressings, ointments, and other treatments as ordered. Assist physicians with routine examinations and treatments. Bath, feed, and make patients comfortable. Perform individual and group health teaching as assigned.
