Inpatient Phlebotomist — Day Shift, Full-Time

Salary range: $16.60 - $28.73 per hour. Placement depends on relevant work experience, internal equity, and collective bargaining agreements for union positions. Benefits

This role requires maintaining patient comfort, performing point‑of‑care testing, managing specimen logistics, and handling check‑in responsibilities. Responsibilities Greets patients, maintains flow, completes voucher information, and verifies patient demographic data. Assesses patient condition to determine the best method for sample collection. Verifies test requests and resolves ambiguous information. Prepares supplies and obtains samples. Instructs patients in collecting non‑blood specimens (urine culture, 24‑hour urines, ova/parasites, stools). Ensures accurate voucher and sample preparation for courier or drop‑off. Investigates and resolves lost, mislabelled, or unsatisfactory specimens. Verifies supply and stock adequacy. Answers phone calls and responds to informational requests. Maintains and performs quality assurance on equipment (centrifuge, refrigerator, incubator). Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Phlebotomy certification through a nationally recognized organization, training from a phlebotomy school or medical institution, or at least one year of phlebotomy experience in a healthcare setting, or CMA certification. Preferred: Experience performing phlebotomy on a broad range of patient types. Experience with processing, transferring, and handling lab specimens and centrifuges. Familiarity with medical EMR systems. Knowledge of medical terminology.
