Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

The Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering safe patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. This role involves direct patient care within the scope of nursing practice, ensuring high standards of care are maintained for mothers and newborns during the antepartum and postpartum periods.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care utilizing the nursing process to assess and address patients' needs.
• Utilize appropriate clinical skills to respond swiftly and accurately to changes in patient conditions and treatment responses.
• Direct and guide patient and family education to promote understanding of care plans and health management.
• Oversee the activities of other nursing personnel while ensuring compliance with established nursing standards.
• Ensure a safe environment for patients and visitors, adhering to safety protocols and procedures at all times.
• Effectively communicate and collaborate with the healthcare team to enhance patient outcomes.
• Utilize the chain of command when necessary to advocate for patient well-being and care appropriateness.

Qualifications

• Current BLS certification is required.
• AWHONN/Fetal Heart Monitoring and DCI/BVP certifications are highly encouraged.
• Active nursing license as verified through Nursys.
• Experience in Labor and Delivery nursing is preferred.
