Intern-Risk Management

Under the direct supervision of a full-time salaried employee designated as his or her sponsor, the student Intern performs work that is intended to provide the needed experience for a career substantially similar to that of the sponsor. This work should provide ample opportunity to learn and should bring value to the company. This Intern role will focus on assisting our Risk Management team members with project work and support tasks for the group. Exact responsibilities will depend on current project status and the candidate’s interests. Potential areas of involvement could include responsibilities that support the Risk Management, Claims and Fleet functions of the department. Maintain punctuality arriving to and departing from work, according to the schedule agreed upon with the student intern sponsor for that school term. Communicate with stakeholders regarding project work and departmental needs. Develop relationships with your sponsor’s peers and manager that can lead to learning opportunities. Fleet related tasks and projects: Audit company files for proper vehicle titling. Assist outside vendor with vehicle retitling project. Audit fleet/driver database to ensure accurate data on company vehicles and drivers. Turn off monitoring of employee driving records as appropriate. Obtain and verify updated insurance policy information for employees receiving an auto allowance. Distributes traffic infraction notices, toll bills and vehicle recalls to appropriate drivers or managers. Respond to requests for auto insurance cards Claims related tasks and projects: Electronic filing of emails to proper claims files. Assist with subrogation claims. Assist the Claims Assistant role with tasks such as, converting incidents into claims within the system and including relevant documents to support this process. Risk Management related tasks and projects: Enter and save insurance policy information into Origami. Code and submit invoices for payment. Review pending invoices and confirm or follow up for payment. Request and maintain records of insurance for joint venture companies. File incoming certificates of insurance and assist with outgoing requests for COIs. Assist with PowerPoint presentations Other duties as assigned. Location(s) 1131 SW Klickitat Way, Seattle, Washington 98134 Minimum Qualifications Actively pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree from an accredited university in Legal Studies, Risk Management, Business, or a related field. An interest, knowledge and/or experience with risk management or insurance is preferred. Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above preferred. Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office Suite products. Strong analytical and organizational skills. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Self-motivated individual with a desire to be continually challenged. Ability to collaborate and work well within a team environment. Availability to work business hours, Monday – Friday during summer months. The student intern is expected to be able to learn and repeat the tasks assigned by their sponsor. Ability to work independently at times with a strong sense of ownership. The ability to articulate questions and otherwise communicate both verbally and in writing is necessary. Full-time attendance at an accredited college or university, in pursuit of a degree consistent with the student internship role.
