Patient Service Representative

Job Title: Patient Service Representative Primary Location: Mary Free Bed at Munson - Traverse City, MI Schedule: 40 hours a week, Monday‑Friday. No holidays or weekends. Compensation: starting at $19.50 per hour, increasing with experience. Responsibilities Greet patients, families, staff, and other visitors at the check‑in/out desk, including appointment check‑in/out, registration, insurance clarification, explanation of benefits, collection of co‑pays, assistance with way‑finding and other program resources. Accurately collect and analyze demographic, insurance/financial, and clinical data to pre‑register and register all types of patients. Coordinate and schedule initial evaluations and subsequent appointments for multidisciplinary programs based on patient needs. Manage calls from insurance and care managers to coordinate multidisciplinary care. Collect expected charges and post cash collections, generate receipts for cash and credit card payments, and provide financial guidance to resolve self‑pay balances including payment options and charity care. Respond to telephone, electronic, or face‑to‑face inquiries from patients or their legal representatives. Assist with optional duties such as transporting patients, maintaining a clean and orderly workplace, managing equipment and supplies, and supporting therapists as directed. Qualifications Minimum of GED/Diploma. Computer experience with high accuracy in data entry. Excellent telephone and customer service skills. Outstanding organizational, interpersonal, communication, and overall customer service skills. Ability to perform in a high‑paced environment with a positive attitude and to interact with professional staff appropriately. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a health‑related field. 12–18 months of healthcare experience involving scheduling and/or patient financial services. Working knowledge of ICD‑10‑CM and CPT coding classification systems. Knowledge of medical terminology and clinical rehabilitation. Physical Requirements No specific requirements for remaining stationary. Frequent walking or moving around work location; frequent keyboard use; occasional lifting up to 10‑75 pounds.
