Position Title Ambulatory Clinic Nurse (RN) – ENT Surgery Days – Full Time (Olathe Hospital) Position Summary / Career Interest Our multi‑specialty surgical clinic operates across six locations and serves approximately 400 patients daily through a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary team. Our staff work alongside surgeons, advanced practice providers, nurses, medical assistants, patient service representatives, audiologists, and speech pathologists to deliver comprehensive, coordinated care. The ambulatory clinic professional registered nurse has the authority, responsibility, and shift accountability for the delivery of nursing care using the nursing process. The Registered Nurse (RN) accepts accountability, applies competent clinical knowledge, and uses independent nursing judgment for care provided by self and by health‑care providers to whom care is delegated to achieve quality patient‑care outcomes. The RN also must possess the ability to assess and interpret patient data needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his or her age‑specific needs. Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions Provide direct patient care within the ambulatory setting, based on the nursing process and within scope of practice. Perform preliminary assessment of patients through observation and chart review to facilitate appropriate follow‑up with the health‑care team. Evaluate unstable or complex patient‑care situations and facilitate appropriate intervention. Implement appropriate clinical decisions and demonstrate appropriate use of expert peers and/or management as applicable. Accept accountability and use independent nursing judgment for care provided by self and by health‑care providers to whom care is delegated. Demonstrate the appropriate use of standards, effective use of resources, and evaluation of patient response in the delivery of patient care. Identify teach/learning needs of patient. Provide educational instruction to patients and families with health‑care needs; evaluate effectiveness of patient and family teaching and document in patient’s charts. Respond to and refer incoming patient treatment‑related phone calls. Complete necessary forms (e.g., FMLA, DME, Home Health orders) and obtain physician signatures as appropriate. Perform the professional, clinical, and/or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department. Work collaboratively with teams to achieve quality patient‑care outcomes. Other duties may be assigned as required. Required Education and Experience High School Graduate Associate Degree in Nursing; 6 months of RN experience 2 or more years of RN experience to be an Ambulatory Clinic RN PRN Bachelor Degree in Nursing (Preferred) Licensure and Certification Licensed Registered Nurse (LRN) – Multi‑State or State Board of Nursing; active, in‑good‑standing RN license in the state of employment. Proof of application of a multistate RN license required for staff hired prior to 2/1/2024. Must obtain a multistate state RN license from the state in which they live at the time of their next RN license renewal by 3/31/2026. Basic Life Support (BLS) – Heartsaver (HS) (Non‑Clinical) – American Heart Association (AHA) or obtained within 14 days.
