About The Position
The Department of Airports is seeking an Accounting Technician to join our Finance Team at the SLO County Airport. This position supports the Airport's financial operations, including enterprise fund budgets, expenditures, financial reporting, and accounting records that keep one of the Central Coast's busiest transportation hubs running smoothly.
About the Role
Under general supervision, the Accounting Technician works within the Airport's Finance Team. This position handles accounting records, accounts receivable, and financial reporting, and it plays a direct role in keeping the Airport's finances accurate, transparent, and compliant with County policy. You'll work as part of a small but mighty team and take ownership of meaningful work that directly supports our passengers, tenants, airlines, and community.
This recruitment may be used to fill future permanent, substitute, limited term, and temporary positions, both full-time and part-time throughout the County.
What You'll Do
- Manage complex accounting records, journals, and ledgers.
- Manage accounts receivable, including tenant and concession billing, payment processing, account reconciliation, and follow-up on outstanding balances.
- Prepare financial statements, reports, and budget analyses.
- Review expenditures for compliance with County policies and applicable laws.
- Create purchase requisitions and ensure compliance with County Purchasing Policies.
- Research financial questions and provide clear, practical solutions.

Pension Benefit and Employee Contribution Rates: The County's pension is a defined benefit plan that provides a guaranteed monthly pension payment for life based on your time in service, wages, and other factors. The County is the primary contributor to the pension fund, but the health of the pension fund also depends on mandatory employee contributions.
