Location: Saugerties NY

Schedule: Monday Friday 7:15am 3:45pm, rotating Saturdays

Expected duration: 3 months or more with potential for a permanent position

Description:

The primary role of a phlebotomist is to aid in executing various assigned tasks, diagnosing issues, training, and proposing workflow improvements.

Responsibilities:

Experience conducting blood extractions, labeling samples, spinning them, documenting maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient records, etc. Collecting and storing specimens following established protocols. Clearly explaining the venipuncture process or other specimen collection methods (e.g., urine or fecal) in a courteous manner. Demonstrating proper techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. Fully comprehending all physician orders. Matching requisition forms to specimen tubes. Labeling, spinning, dividing, and freezing specimens as needed for testing. Verifying all test requisitions or labels to ensure accuracy. Preparing specimens for transportation. Storing samples at the correct temperature, placing them in suitable containers, labeling accurately, following specific procedures for transport as required. Complying with OSHA and DEP regulations. Attending annual departmental training sessions. Answering phone calls, providing laboratory results to address inquiries.

Minimum Requirements: Valid state Phlebotomy certification, if required in your state. At least 6 months of venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. High School Diploma or GED minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
