Position Summary

The Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for the design, development, testing, and support of electronic hardware for acute care medical devices. This role contributes technical expertise throughout the product development lifecycle, working closely with cross-functional teams to develop innovative and reliable solutions. The engineer will participate in electrical architecture discussions, hardware design activities, verification testing, and documentation while supporting project goals and product compliance requirements.

Key ResponsibilitiesElectrical Design & Development (40%)

• Design, develop, and test analog, digital, and mixed-signal electronic circuits for medical devices.

• Create and review schematics, component selections, and PCB layouts.

• Support prototype builds, troubleshooting, and design verification activities.

• Participate in root-cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.

Requirements & Architecture Support (20%)

• Contribute to the development of electrical requirements and technical specifications.

• Evaluate design tradeoffs and feasibility of proposed solutions.

• Collaborate with systems, software, mechanical, and manufacturing engineers to ensure successful product integration.

Verification & Validation (15%)

• Develop and execute test plans to verify electrical performance and reliability.

• Support product validation efforts and regulatory compliance testing.

• Analyze test results and document findings.

Documentation (15%)

• Prepare and maintain design documentation, including specifications, test reports, schematics, and engineering change orders.

• Ensure documentation complies with quality system and regulatory requirements.

Technical Collaboration & Continuous Improvement (10%)

• Participate in design reviews and technical discussions.

• Provide guidance to junior engineers and engineering technicians.

• Support continuous improvement initiatives and best engineering practices.

QualificationsEducation

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline required.

• Master's degree preferred.

Experience

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in electronic hardware design and development.

• Experience with analog, digital, or mixed-signal circuit design.

• Experience taking products through multiple phases of development, from concept to production.

• Medical device experience is preferred but not required.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals.

• Experience using schematic capture and PCB design tools.

• Familiarity with laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and power analyzers.

• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Irvine, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $60.00/hr.
