Release of Information Specialist

Release of Information Specialist R1 RCM Inc. is looking for an experienced Release of Information Specialist to prepare and release patient records in accordance with HIPAA and other regulations. The position includes data entry, audits, and ensuring accurate release of records to authorized recipients. Shift Schedule Tuesday through Saturday 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (PST) Monday through Friday 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM (PST) Responsibilities Retrieve and release patient records for patient access or third parties, complying with confidentiality protocols. Update data systems and perform audits to ensure information accuracy. Reconcile reports and work with staff members to resolve discrepancies. Handle inbound calls, emails, and faxes; log requests in the EHR system. Verify recipient identity and authority, prepare records per specifications, and review released information for compliance. Stay updated on relevant laws and regulations; assist in training new staff. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent. Minimum 2 years of data‑related experience, preferably in healthcare or release of information. Knowledge of HIPAA and state regulations. Proficiency in MS Office and strong data preparation skills. Excellent time management, attention to detail, and professional communication. Compensation The base pay range for this US‑based position is $16.61–$22.95 per hour, based on role, level, location, job‑related skills, experience, and education.
