About the Position

Registered Nurse - Preop/PACU

Location: Northridge, CA

Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Variable day shifts, 8-10 hours, start times between 5:00 AM - 12:00 PM; call every 7-8 weeks on Saturday 5:00 AM - 2:00 PM

Hours per Week: 40

Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for surgery by starting IVs, obtaining consents, and documenting assessments
• Monitor patients post-operatively and manage transradial bands and cath lab observations
• Administer preop medications and assist with electrical shock therapy preparation
• Read and interpret telemetry strips for 2 rooms with 4 monitors
• Collaborate with an intensivist and anesthesiologist in a fast-paced unit

Knowledge & Skills

• Preoperative and post-operative care
• Telemetry monitoring and EKG interpretation
• IV therapy and blood draws
• Cerner Surginet charting system
• Transradial band management and hematoma recognition

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in Med Surg/Telemetry
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• PALS certification preferred but not required
• Experience with Cerner Surginet EMR
• Preoperative experience or pediatric experience is a plus
