Technical Trainer Legal Entity: Fives Machining System Inc - MTSS Country: United States State: Kentucky City: Hebron Job Family: Aftermarket and Services Job Type: Permanent position Work Location: On-site Compensation: Accountability: Responsible forassistingin designing, developing, delivering, andmaintainingtechnical training programs for internal employees and external customers focused on machine tool systems. Captures and converts technical knowledge from subject matter experts and experienced technicians into standardized training content, troubleshooting resources, and practical learning tools. Ensures employees and customers develop the knowledge and skills necessary to safely install,operate, maintain, and troubleshoot Fives and non-Fives machine tool equipment. Supports operational excellence, workforce capability, customer satisfaction, and scalable technical knowledge transfer through effective training delivery, competency validation, train-the-trainer support, and continuous improvement. Scope and Responsibilities: Essential duties include, but are not limited to the following: Training Delivery: Deliver instructor-led training in classroom, lab, shop floor, and on-site customer environments. Provide hands-on instruction supporting the installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of machine tools. Teach technical content across beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. Adapt instructional delivery methods to support varying levels of experience and learning styles. Ensure all training aligns with company safety, quality, and operational standards. Assistin the design, development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of training materials including presentations, manuals, facilitator guides, participant materials, job aids, assessments, and hands-on lab activities. Capture technical knowledge from subject matter experts, experienced technicians, engineering, service, assembly, and applications teams and convert that knowledge into standardized training content. Assist in development andmaintenance of troubleshooting guides, technical reference materials, video-based learning resources, standard work aids, and lessons-learned content that support consistent training delivery and field readiness. Provide continuous improvement in training programs to reflectnew technologies, product enhancements, customer requirements, lessons learned, and industry best practices. Partner with engineering, service, assembly, applications, and other technical teams to ensure technical accuracy and practical application. Supportdevelopmentof structured learning paths, role-based competency expectations, and certification processes. Assistin the creation and maintenance of train-the-trainer materials and processes to support qualification and consistency of internal SME instructors. Customer Training & Field Support: Deliver customized and on-site training at customer locations during installation, commissioning, and service visits. Train customers on machine operation, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting techniques. Represent Fives professionally while reinforcing technical expertise and customer trust. Travel as required to support customer training and business needs. Competency & Skills Development: Contribute to role-based competency matrices by providing input on technical skill requirements, training alignment, assessment criteria, and demonstrated learner performance. Support training needsanalysesand skills-gap assessments by identifying observed technical competency gaps and readiness concerns. Partner with managers and SMEs to recommend targeted development plans based on assessment results, hands-on validation, business needs, and employee development priorities. Support competency validation through practical evaluations, observation, testing, and documentation of hands-on performance. Evaluate trainee performance through observation, testing, and hands-on validation. Identify skill gaps and provide targeted coaching, mentoring and follow-up training. Collect feedback and implement improvements to training programs and materials. Track training effectiveness and outcomes. Learning Management / Training Documentation Support: Supportaccuratetraining documentation by providing course materials, assessment results,completioninformation, certification inputs, and related records for entry into theappropriate trainingtracking or learning management system. Assistinmaintainingtraining content, assignments, and documentation to support classroom, virtual, self-paced, and hands-on practical learning formats. Ensure training documentation and learning resourcescomply withinternal, customer, safety, and quality requirements. Knowledge Management & Technical Documentation: Partner with SMEs and experienced technicians to document tribal knowledge, lessons learned, standard work practices, troubleshooting methods, and technical best practices. Convert tribal knowledge into standardized learning materials, knowledge resources, troubleshooting databases, and practical job aids. Assistinmaintainingknowledge libraries, standard work documentation, lessons-learned resources, and troubleshooting tools that support employee development, customer training, and field service readiness. Technical Expertise & Support: Maintain current knowledge of machine tool systems, CNC controls, and related technologies. Assist in development of technical documentation, troubleshooting guides, and learning resources. Provide internal knowledge transfer and technical support when needed. General Responsibilities: Proactively maintain a safe and healthy work environment. Adhere to company policies, procedures, and quality standards. Maintain training equipment, labs, and materials. Perform other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities: This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but may provide technical guidance, coaching, and mentoring to employees and customers during training activities. Education/Certification: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, or a related technical field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience/Skills: Minimum7+ years of experience in a machine tool, CNC, industrial maintenance, field service, or manufacturing environment. Hands-on experience with machine installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, alignment, or field service preferred. Prior experience delivering technical training, mentoring, coaching, or instruction preferred. Experience developing technical training materials, troubleshooting guides, standard work documentation, video-based learning resources, or practical job aids preferred. Experience capturing SME knowledge and converting technical information into structured training content preferred. Familiarity with learning management systems, training records, competency tracking, or skills matrix tools preferred. Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, CNC, and machine tool systems. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and technical documentation. Strong communication, presentation, documentation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to explain complex technical concepts in a clear, practical, and accessible manner. Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, andcontinuous-improvementabilities.
