AI Governance Manager

JCW is working exclusively with a leading global insurance company to find an AI Governance Manager. This is a role with real substance — you'll be a key leader within an established governance function, owning strategic workstreams and shaping how AI is responsibly adopted across the business. If you're an AI/data governance professional with a strong foundation looking to operate at scale, with proper tooling, senior stakeholder exposure, and a supportive team around you, this is worth a conversation. What the role involves Leading the design and execution of key workstreams within the enterprise AI governance framework, from strategy through to operational rollout Chairing AI governance working groups, facilitating sessions with senior stakeholders, and driving accountability across programmes Overseeing model risk management, algorithmic transparency, and responsible AI practices across underwriting, claims, and other critical business functions Acting as a power user and internal authority on AI governance tooling (e.g. Collibra or comparable platforms), configuring workflows and driving adoption across business and technology teams Managing the firm's compliance posture for AI-related regulation, including the EU AI Act, GDPR, BCBS 239-aligned data principles, and emerging insurance-sector AI guidance Partnering with technology, data science, and actuarial teams to embed governance controls, bias monitoring, and explainability requirements within AI/ML platforms and pipelines Owning and maintaining the AI policy and standards library, ensuring documentation stays current and accountability is clearly assigned Preparing and presenting governance reporting and MI to senior stakeholders, with confidence engaging up to leadership level What they are looking for Around 6-8 years of experience in AI governance, data governance, model risk, or a closely related discipline Financial services or insurance experience strongly preferred Solid hands‑on experience with Collibra or a comparable governance/catalogue platform Strong working knowledge of AI Act, GDPR, BCBS 239, and insurance‑sector regulatory expectations around AI/data Familiarity with DAMA‑DMBOK, DCAM, or equivalent AI risk/governance frameworks Comfortable operating across modern data and AI platforms and metadata tooling Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with proven ability to engage both technical teams and senior business stakeholders clearly and confidently JCW Group is committed to equal opportunity recruitment.
