Strong Intermediate Care Nurse Accepted Must be able to manage a vent and telemetry monitoring Must be able to manage insulin drips I.Job Summary: §Provided direct and indirect patientcare in the ICU setting. §Communicates with physicians/Nursing Director/coworkers, as appropriate about changes in patient’s clinical condition including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology. §Can respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. §Additionally, can perform general nursing duties in all departments with adequate supervision. II.Demonstrates competency in the followingareas: A.Knowledge of medications and their correctadministration based on age of the patient and their clinical condition. B.Ability to performa head-to-toe assessment on all patientsand reassessments as per policy. This includes pediatric, geriatric and the general patient population. C.Ability to reviseplan of care as indicatedby the patient’s response to treatment and evaluate overall plan daily for effectiveness. D.Formulates a teachingplan based upon identified learningneeds and evaluates effectiveness of learning, family is included in teaching as appropriate. E.Pain management assessment techniques utilized. Educatesthe patient and family regarding pain management. F.Demonstrates ability to perform treatments and provides services. G.Knowledge of cardiac monitoring, identifies dysrhythmias and reports appropriately H.Communicates professionally to ICU NursingDirector, coworkers, and physicians. I.Consults other departments as appropriate to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient’s needs. J.Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient,including pediatric, geriatric, and general population. K.Demonstrates an abilityto assist physicians with procedures and performs services requiring technical and manual skills. L.Demonstrates an abilityto be flexible, organized and function under stressful situation. M.Treats patients and their familieswith respect and dignity. Functions as liaison between Administration, patients, physicians and other health care providers. O.Interacts professionally with patient/family and involves patient/family in the formation of the plan of care. P.Maintains a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments. Q.Documentation meets currentstandards and policies,is legible and accurate. R.Identifies and addresses psychosocial needs of patients and families; communicates with social service/discharge plannerregarding both in-hospital and post-discharge needs. S.Manages and operatesequipment safely and correctly. Sends requisitions (via Meditech) when repairs are needed. T.Coordinates and supervises patient care as necessary. U.Understands and assistsDirector in core measures. III.Professional Requirements: A.Meets dress code standards of assigned nursingunit; appearance is neat and clean. B.Completes annual educational requirements C.Maintains regulatory requirements. D.Maintains patient confidentiality at all times. E.Reports to work on time and as scheduled; completeswork within designated time. F.Wears identification whileon duty; uses computerized punchtime system correctly. G.Attends annual review and department in-services, as scheduled. H.Attends at least 75% of staff meetingsannually. I.Represents the organization in a positiveand professional manner. J.Actively participates in quality improvement activities. K.Complies with all organizational policiesregarding ethical businesspractices. L.Communicates the mission,ethics and goalsof the facility, as well as the focus statement of the department. IV.Regulatory Requirements: A.Current Colorado Registered Nurse license. B.Current BLS certification. C.Current ACLS (withinone year of hire) D.PALS required (withinone year of hire) E.Successful completion of arrhythmia competency (within 6 months of hire) V.Language Skills: A.Ability to communicate effectively in English,both verbally and in writing B.Additional languages preferred. The employee is required to hear alarms on equipment, client calls, and instructions from physicians/department staff. The employee is occasionally required to sit.
