Insero Talent Solutions is recruiting for a Senior Trust & Estate Tax Accountant / Supervisor on behalf of an established and growing accounting and advisory firm. This opportunity offers the chance to join a specialized Trust & Estate Services practice, working closely with high-net-worth individuals, families, fiduciaries, attorneys, and financial institutions on complex trust, estate, and wealth transfer tax matters.

Unlike traditional, high-volume tax compliance positions, this role offers exposure to sophisticated fiduciary engagements, estate administration, tax planning, and advisory services.

Depending on experience, the position may also offer opportunities to review work, mentor junior professionals, and assume additional supervisory responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and/or review federal and state fiduciary income tax returns for trusts and estates, including Form 1041.
• Prepare and/or review federal estate and gift tax returns, including Forms 706 and 709.
• Maintain, reconcile, and analyze financial records for trusts and estates, ensuring accurate reporting and compliance.
• Prepare fiduciary accountings, trust accounting reports, and supporting financial schedules.
• Assist with estate administration and settlement, including preparation of final individual income tax returns for decedents.
• Prepare tax calculations, financial projections, and supporting analyses for estate, gift, and wealth transfer planning strategies.
• Research complex federal and state tax matters, interpret applicable regulations, and assist in developing recommendations for clients.
• Collaborate with estate planning attorneys, financial advisors, trustees, executors, and internal professionals to address client needs and resolve complex tax matters.
• Identify potential tax planning opportunities and provide technical guidance related to trusts, estates, and fiduciary taxation.
• Manage assigned engagements, coordinate deliverables, and maintain strong client relationships.
• Depending on experience, review work prepared by junior team members, provide technical guidance, and assist with training and professional development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field preferred.
• 3+ years of relevant experience in trust and estate taxation, fiduciary tax, or a related public accounting environment.
• Experience preparing federal and state fiduciary income tax returns, estate tax returns, and gift tax returns strongly preferred.
• Experience with Forms 1041, 706, and 709 highly desirable.
• Background within public accounting, a trust department, wealth management organization, or another environment involving complex fiduciary tax matters preferred.
• Strong understanding of tax compliance, accounting principles, and financial reporting as they relate to trusts and estates.
• Demonstrated analytical, research, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, attorneys, financial advisors, and internal stakeholders.
• Ability to independently manage multiple engagements, prioritize deadlines, and maintain a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
• For candidates at the Supervisor level, prior experience reviewing tax returns, managing engagements, or mentoring junior professionals is preferred.
