Field Sales Engineer

The Field Sales Engineer is responsible for managing and growing sales within a defined territory by acting as a strategic partner to customers, distributors, and internal stakeholders. This role serves as a primary point of contact for technical sales of Dodge products and solutions, driving volume growth and capturing new business opportunities through field engagement and relationship development. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, sales acumen, and customer focus to identify and convert opportunities, support channel partners, and build long-term relationships in the power transmission industry.

Key responsibilities include developing and executing territory sales plans aligned with company objectives, identifying new business opportunities and supporting conversions to Dodge products through plant surveys and customer interaction, achieving year-over-year sales growth by increasing volume and expanding into new accounts, building strong relationships with distributor partners and end users, conducting regular branch and customer site visits to maintain visibility and support local sales efforts, serving as a trusted advisor and technical resource to customers, providing product recommendations and interchange solutions based on plant surveys and application analysis, collaborating with product marketing, engineering, and inside sales teams to support customer needs, communicating product advantages and ensuring customer satisfaction through consultative selling, working closely with the Regional Sales Manager and other Sales Engineers to share best practices and align efforts, developing and executing joint business plans with key distributor and customer contacts, engaging with cross-functional teams to leverage resources and close strategic opportunities, submitting accurate sales reports and expense documentation in a timely manner, and using Salesforce, Power BI, and other tools to track performance, forecast opportunities, and analyze sales trends.

Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree (technical field preferred) or equivalent relevant experience, 23 years of experience in the power transmission or industrial equipment industry, 12 years of Dodge product knowledge preferred, excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple accounts and priorities, self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and proficiency with CRM systems and sales reporting tools (Salesforce preferred).

Physical requirements include the ability to walk long distances in industrial environments, including extreme heat, dust, heights, and confined spaces, comfortable with climbing structures, walking catwalks, and accessing tight areas, ability to lift and pull up to 50 lbs., must be able to drive for extended periods, ability to travel frequently within the territory, and comfortable presenting in-person and virtually to individuals and small groups.
