Electronic Maintenance Technician

Electronic Maintenance Technician 87510 The Boeing Company – Boeing Commercial Airlines – is inviting applications for an Electronic Maintenance Technician in Portland, Oregon. The role is 100% onsite and requires a US Person exported compliance certification. This position is governed by the International Association of Machinists (IAM‑751) collective bargaining agreement and is for the 2nd shift. Position Responsibilities Obtain work assignments via job board, team leader, or shop procedures. Review schematics, logic ladders, drawings, specifications, and regulatory codes for assigned jobs. Service, maintain, upgrade, and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions in collaboration with operators, vendors, and engineers. Wear appropriate PPE and comply with safety procedures, including Lockout, Tag, Tryout (LOTTO) and confined space protocols. Use mechanical lifts (scissor lifts, forklifts) to safely access work areas. Disassemble and reassemble electronic components or subsystems for inspection and repair. Repair, replace, or reprogram components; secure or order replacement parts when necessary. Install, crimp, terminate, and solder wires using approved methods; install and repair conduits or raceways. Utilize electronic test equipment (oscilloscopes, meters) to test and calibrate electronic components and systems, including antenna and transmission line tests. Install and edit software and machine programs as required, ensuring systems remain updated. Clean electronic components and computer controls with suitable solvents and equipment. Conduct follow‑up tests to confirm resolutions and liaise with operators as needed. Create detailed documentation of work performed and communicate with the next shift to ensure continuity. Collaborate with co‑workers, supervisors, and engineers to analyze and improve facility and equipment design. Maintain applicable licenses, certifications, and knowledge of electronic theory, software programming languages, and mathematical concepts (binary, hexadecimal) for effective troubleshooting. Physical Demands and Potential Hazards Lift weights ranging from 10–35 lbs. Engage in reaching, turning, lifting, lowering, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and squatting. Work in environments that may involve contact with metals, solvents, and coolants. Operate in proximity to moving parts, sharp cutters, and potential slipping hazards. Adapt to varying noise levels and atmospheric conditions. Use personal safety gear to protect face, eyes, hands, arms, and feet. Basic Qualifications 1+ year of electronic/electrical experience with related education in machine tool maintenance, industrial electronic/electrical maintenance, or military electronic/electrical system maintenance. Valid State of Oregon Electrical License at the Manufacturing Plant level or higher, or the ability to reciprocate state license into Oregon. Preferred Qualifications 1+ year operating CNC (Computer Numerical Controlled) machine tools. 1+ year troubleshooting and operating PLCs (programable logic controls), preferably Siemens and Allen Bradley. Shift and Work Type Shift 2 (2nd shift); 100% onsite. Export Control Requirement Export control compliance requires a US Person as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.62 (US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee). Compensation and Benefits Pay: $35.32 /hour, with potential to earn up to $62.45 /hour based on the relevant collective bargaining agreement.
